Rock Around the Clock!!

Apparently, if you are grooving to the music that you listening to, something els is moving too.
This is your outer hair cell which has been patch clamped using a whole cell recording pipette at its basal end. Then, the music was played to stimulate it.
What is it in “english”,it is something that aid you in your auditory system.
Watch it groove towards the music by clicking on the picture or here.

Believe me, it’s stunningly amusing!
This is the sort of discovery that really reminded me of the young and naive me, wanting to be a scientist with great discovery.
Sadly, I must say, the route to actually get my Biomedical Sciences Degree, is starting to fade away.
Study harder than a doctor, some would say, pay is also lesser, great research comes with great sponsors, but with the credit crunch just at the door step, what sponsors?
But I must say, Jonathon Ashmore discovery is definitely one those who truly inspire people to the field of biological sciences. Who would have thought, outer hair cell could do that.
It is for once, I truly enjoy my studies, however, there is not much of it in my 1138 pages Principle of Neural Science Book.
Ugh.. back to auditory system..
God Help me, exam in 5 days.
